Im a degree student and work part time at kfc, its been 4 months and im just tierd now, its always short staffed, busy, customers are impatient and rude, like they change the orders at the last minute when i total the transaction so i have to take it again and the till becomes imbalnced so i have to void the previous order, some cstomers dont know what they are on about when making a order and blame me and say i got it wrong, fussy and say put the stuff in seperate bags, no rib pieces please, also im hindu and when other hindu custmers come they say 'oh give me a extra pieces, extra fries, i wont tell,' i say no but feel like saying 'dont you have any shame you greedy bastards, guys like you are giving hindus bad names', managers are also idiots as well as they make me work extra hours and call me on short notice and I just cant take it anymore, other full tiem workers my age think im dumb but i feel like saying 'you're dumb which is why you're here fulltime',
What do you suggest?

I can suggest a few things.
Firstly, don't get another job in a service industry, where you'll be working with customers because it doesn't matter if you are serving chicken or implementing cutting edge eCommerce systems - customers are all the same.
Secondly, improve on your grammar and spelling. Your question was loaded with so many errors that I doubt you'll pass your degree and you will be at K.F.C for life.

I feel you. I am desi and I was working for a pakistani boss, also in the food service industry but in a smoothie shop. I had the same experience of rude customers, being overworked, having to void out many orders and getting yelled at by the boss over things he didn't even both to take the time to train me on. I assume you have already completed your degree. I suggest you quit this job. The day I quit showing up to get abused at my job was the day a burden was lifted off my shoulders. I was working 40 hour weeks and I am 19, a college student, and had to work Christmas Eve, New Years Eve..etc. You are intelligent enough to find a job in a clean, neat environment such as an office or business firm. I suggest you look for such jobs, work on your resume and apply. You dont need this dead-end job, it's stressing you out and you could better apply yourself in a more sophisticated position. Best of luck.

I also work in the fast food industry and HATE IT! I am a manager and let me tell you we cannot MAKE you work extra. and we only phone people in if we need them. you know how bad a shift is when you are under staffed, well it also happens on shifts your not on. I feel the same way about the customers and I cannot believe how some people can react over a burger! It is the worst job ever but Im stuck there as its the only job thats flexable enough for college! You could find another job if you hate it so much, but if your situation is the same as mine you have to just grin and bear it. and dont answer your phone when they ring you.

Where I worked, anyway: they put MOST young ladies out front on the cash register & MOST young men cooking the food. They also expect you to get an order out in a certain amount of time, say 2 minutes per order. And when you are not busy, it's your JOB to look busy!!! Although, there aren't many times that happens. As you sweep & mop the floors, wash down all the countertops, clean tables, wash windows, take trash out, & clean restrooms. You also wash down trays. If you do deal with customers, simply remember one thing; how would you like to be treated IF you were the customer?? The hardest thing, at least for me; is when a customer would come back to complain about the food & I got all the crap....... when I didn't have anything to do with cooking it. And yes, there will be times when you mess up an order here or there........ with 2 minutes per order, how could anyone be perfect??? Also, don't let anyone else use your "drawer"..... as the manager counts it at the end of the day. After all, if YOU mess up & get blamed for it....... it is one thing. But if someone else messes up & is using your drawer, you still get blamed for it. Just a few quick tips!!!

your the dumb one thinking it was going to be a stroll of a part time job, dealing with the public in those kind of jobs may be a bit brain dead but that doesn't make it an easy job,i wouldn't wish it on anyone but hats off to the people that have to do it

I did it for 6 years(not at KFC, but elsewhere), so I know exactly what you mean. Worse for me, I was a shift manager. I was constantly being held responsible for things I had no control over. My job was threatened on a daily basis from my boss. I would always have to go deal with customers who demanded to see the manager. I'm glad those days are over.
