The fans want a playoff. The Big 10 and Big 12 do not. They will not change the system until the they are forced to. The only two ways to do it are by having Congress do something, which is very unlikely (college football should never be on the agenda, they have bigger fish to fry) or for the fans to do something drastic.

I propose that in the 2007/2008 season a total boycot of College Football. I personally pledge to never watch a single second of College Football till a playoff is instituted, who's with me?

There is no need for boycott. If college football fans want to change it they need to mail and email the big money sponsors and demand them to change it. Like most web sites say... that they have developed a money making machine in the current BCS system. With all the automatic bids in place it guarantees the top conferences "money". I suggest emailing the sponsors might be the only way to change it

First, I've never heard anyone in the Big 12 or Big 10 say anything about not wanting a playoff. No major conference university president (SEC, Pac 10, ACC etc.....) wants a playoff system. Too much money in the bowls, so check your facts.

Second, if you want to boycott college football more power to you but don't expect any results. People like their college football more then they dislike the BCS system. Neeland Stadium, The Big House and Royal Memorial Stadium will still be full every Saturday next year and Game Day will still be the most watched show on ESPN. Even if the Boise States and Utahs of the world never get their shot at a National Championship.

Well if the big 10 and big 12 are the problem let's boycott them for a few years first. Besides shouldn't Michigan fans beg the big 10 for a switch. Big East fan so all for boycotting those two and taking away their money.

Congress can get involved in anything they want. College football is a big business and Congress has the power to regulate interstate commerce (the commerce clause of the Constitution).

For instance, if the 6 BCS conferences collude to keep out a non-BCS team that deserves to be in the national championship then Congress would be the only body to investigate how one school was denied millions of dollars by other schools. That would affect tuition, scholarships, endowment, etc.

They use 5 statistical categories. That my friend falls well short of "all the data". The thing that sets the SEC apart is the quality of the worst teams in the conference. I'll take Mississippi State over Stanford any day of the week. BTW did you notice that the SEC is the all time number 1 conference.

I agree they need to have a playoff. But they won't change it. I lover college football too much not to watch it.

A very good arguement for a playoff is Boise St.

Go Broncos!!!!!!!

If the big 10 and 12 do not wants playoff because they are too weak. They are scared to face the mighty divisions pac-10 and sec. or they are afraid to face USC and LSU. The championship game should be USC vs LSU.
