try the food supplement Omega-3
it helps reduce inflammation - it is not good to take the OTC's for a long time- they are very toxic to the liver and kidneys

Considering carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by an entrapment of the median nerve in the wrist, really isn't a medicine that can "fix" it. An NSAID can relieve some inflammation but it isn't getting to the cause of the problem, and besides, taking too much of a NSAID can tear up your stomach and cause liver damage. Some chiropractors adjust the bones of the wrist which can relieve pressure on the carpal tunnel. The problem is finding one that adjusts extremities. Some don't. Also, the nerve roots in the neck may be affected by joint dysfunction in the neck. It's worth a shot anyway.

A Note About OTC Pain Relievers
The first line of therapy for common types of pain is over-the-counter (OTC) pain relievers such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and aspirin. Some of these products may provide relief equivalent to the prescription COX-2 inhibitors, while costing much less. Other reasons your doctor may recommend an OTC therapy include:
- An OTC pain reliever is considered the first and often best line of treatment for common aches and pains
- OTC pain relievers may work as well as or better than some prescription medications
- Prescription pain relievers and muscle relaxants should be considered only if symptoms and activity limitations are severe and prolonged To learn more about the effectiveness of OTC pain medications such as the ibuprofen found in Advil, click here

Go to a health food store and ask for Emu oil and Castor oil. Mix these together in equal parts(50/50) then rub onto the affected area multiple times for several days . If the smell is not to your likeing -add a drop or two of rose oil( or other oil) to this emulsion to your satisfaction. It will take a day or so to feel the relief from this type of pain but- if you do this regularly you will be amazed with the results! Bonus-your not damageing your liver(or other adverse effects) from taking pills and better yet -you are positively healing the affected area!

GOOD LUCK!
I have suffered with carpal tunnel since 1976. I have never found anything that truly cures it except time. There are things that make you feel better while your body slowly heals itself. I have the best luck with Ultralab's Human Growth Hormone Complex available through the website vitacost.com.

My hubby has carpal tunnel, and after much research on alternative medicine(hes really into it) he loads up daily on great multi vegtable juices and real fruit juices. If you can't stand drinking these, you can buy 'Vital Greens' or something like that, that is concentrated veggies at a heath food store.
Good luck!

Probably aspirin. I have trouble with arthitis and have tried all the OTC pain meds. Aspirin works better than anything.

any NSAID (non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like Motrin, Aleve or Advil. They will help with the inflammation of the wrist as well as the pain.
Aspirin and Tylenol aren't NSAIDS so they will only help with the pain.
