As a Roman I resent even the thought that other than through some quirk of geography, that the ninnies of the EU and the Romans of the Republic are related at all.

There maybe some similarities between the late Empire and the current EU, the most obvious being the slow suicide each civilization took or in the case of the EU is taking in allowing unrestrained immigration of peoples hostile to the dominant culture into their respective territories.
