As Salaam alaykum means "peace be with you" (not sure about the spelling!)
Wa alaykum as salaam is the traditional reply, and it means "And also with you"

Um, OK, I'll try....
"Allah" is "God; "abba" is father.
I remember those words from reading KING OF THE WIND, a horse book, about this great Arabian horse, when I was a kid and if it wasn't for that book, I'd probably not know any words in Arabic (or just Allah... and Ayatollah or however that's spelled)
