Leanne I would suggest that if you write him a poem that you do so by hand and not typed out. In it you can put how you met, things that you have experienced as well as hopes and dreams of the future. You can tell him how important he has become in your life and how grateful you are that you are together. If you have a nice frame place poem inside this frame and place next to his dinner plate. What a lovely gift he will be recieving and trust me when I tell you this will mean more to him then if you had either bought him his dream car or spent a million bucks on him. Best of luck with both your preparation of a nice meal and your prose.

Love in my point of view

Love is a mystery leaving no clue
Love is saying I love you
Love is looking at your loved one without saying a word and enjoy it
Love is rare
Love makes us swear
Love makes us care

Love is giving all your heart
Love has its own language that only the ones in love can understand
Love is being more than a friend
Love is hugging the soul
And never letting go
Love is a very special word
If you really mean it
Tell it to the world
Let your soul be heard…

Look up quotes on the web to inspire you. Also consider song lyrics, then adapt them to your needs/situation. You're not publishing or copyrighting what you are creating, so feel free to use other people's words to help say what you want to say to your beloved.

Try http://quotations.about.com/cs/poemlyrics/a/My_Star.htm for starters.

In my experience, men don't often enjoy poetry like women do. So unless your guy is a real romantic and really into it, keep it short and no matter what, make it from YOUR heart. :) Good luck!

Start with a line about how you feel. Then at the end of each line start ryhming it . For example.

You make me smile when I am sad.
Everytime I think about you it makes me glad.
I know how much I love you and that is true,
Beacause baby I really love you.

Just have each line rhyme with eachother. Good luck.
