do you mean a medical doctor because they are many other doctors besides medical doctors.
For medical doctors I would say they did pre-med, physics, chemisty, microbiology, biology, nuclear medicine, public health, bioengineering, bioinformation, science or something that has lots of science concentration.

I majored in Archaeology, but had to get a second degree in biology. Chemistry is a good background, the best in my class majored in music of all things and was a classical guitarist

Ususally biology, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular genetics, or a combination of them. However, I have known doctors whom had double majors; One in the sciences, and one in the liberal arts. The conventional wisdom is, however, that majoring in the sciences is considered "pre-med."
