I didn't like her before, and from what I've heard so far, I'm certainly not going to change my mind in her regard.

I never liked Nancy Pelosi. Theres certainly nothing wrong with having a woman for a speaker but ....HER???? The Democrats could have made a more sensible choice. I also think that it would have been a wise move if she had shown humility when she took her position. If she had done that it would have shown leadership qualities and class. Instead she had to repeat over and over "I have the power"... This will only incite juvenile behavior and Ive no doubt the Republicans will no do the same when they eventually regain control. Common sense seems to elude most politicians...

Alot better than I feel about Hillary being the 1st woman president. Or any woman being president for that matter.

I think it could have been fine except that she is being hailed because she is a woman. She was elected because they wanted a woman. That's not how its supposed to be. If a woman is eleceted as president or speaker of the house, it should be because she is a talented leader, not just to be a symbol.

Though I'm not a Democrat and I personally don't care for Nancy Pelosi (putting it mildly) I am excited that we have our first Female Speaker of the House.

It's a great feeling. If I disapproved of her politics I would probably still feel good about the historical precedent. But I highly approve of Nancy Pelosi. She's a feisty one, and will always say exactly what she thinks, whether Bush likes it or not. Considering the state our country is in right now, that's a plus anyway you look at it.

Hope Cheney's heart can hold out...not sure this country is ready to be led by a woman--I think they are too emotional for such a responsibility but at the same time, that ability to be emotional might be just what this country needs....

Well done my lady, you have come a long way for yourself and women, and, it is fitting that she grew up with a father in politics. I feel right about it and doubly because I live in California.
