If you deposit a personal check and don't have a credit facility at that bank, they will hold funds until the check clears (7-10 days).

You can arrange to have your bank give you an allowable amount that won't be subject to the hold (Say, $500. - $1,000.) and their decision will be based on your credit history.

Most of them do if you call them and give them a check number to look for. Be sure to post date it though. I assume this is about your rent. Maybe the landlord will let you post date the check. That way you don't have to hassle with the bank and any fees they might charge.
Another idea can you do a credit card advance?
