If you're just getting into the smokey eye look and would like something that transitions easily from day to night, I will share this technique with you.
I start with a bronze eyeshadow and apply it over my entire lid. Avoid the area just below the brow, though. We'll get to that later. For now, just apply bronze to the LID.
Now take a small eyeshadow brush and dampen it with a little water. Run your dampened brush through a pallette of charcoal colored eyeshadow. This will make sort of a cream liner. Use the brush to apply the charcoal color around your upper lashline. It's just like brushing on eyeliner there, only the brush with help you make a somewhat thicker, softer line.
Now clean off your brush and use the same technique for under your lower lash line, only use a sort of sage green color.
Now to finish with the shadow, apply a stroke of silver shimmer beginning at your inner eye (tear duct area), that goes up and highlights beneath the brow bone and ends at the outer corner of your eye.
For a finishing touch, apply extra lengthening black mascara.

Choose two colours of eyeshadows, I use a silver and then a charcoal grey for example. Apply the silver to the whole of the eyelid. Then use the charcoal grey as the definer, use this only on the corners of your lids (furthest away from your nose if that makes sense). Then use a liquid black eyeliner to do a flick, starting a thin line on the lid by your nose and making a thicker line on the outer corners, gently flick up so it's like cat's eyes. Then for your lower lashes, use a black kohl pencil to create a fine line, then smudge this.
Always use a lighter colour for the base and a darker colour for the definer e.g. light blue and navy or bronze and dark chocolate...

if you are dark skinned i'd say line your eyes with black kohl. inside and out and make sure that there are no gaps in between your lashes...it looks horrid. try mac graphblack, it has excellent staying power but is still soft and blendable. then use a pencil brush (mac 219) to gently blend away the hard edges. you can soften the look by putting a colour LIGHTLY on top. you'll still get the intensity of a smokey eye but then it'd be more interesting than a traditional smokey eye. if you are fair skinned i'd use a soft brown unless you want that really strong rock chick look.

u need a base eyeshadow which should belight and shimmery (not metallic) powder texture. lilac, light peach, or champagne are good for a soft and sophisticated look; or use a white base with any dark contouring shade for a high-contrast dramatic look.
The contouring eyeshadow must be a dark, slightly shimmery colour, enhanced by eye pencil of the same shade.dark brown, blue, green, or purple are nice.black is stunning .
Choose soft eye pencil of the same colour as your contouring shade. dont use liquid eyeliner its too harsh. use loads of black mascara.Outline your eye contour with the eye pencil, all the way around. Make the line thicker along the upper lash line. Apply your base eyeshadow all over the upper eyelid. Blend well with a base brush. With a pointy sponge applicator, apply contouring eyeshadow along the lower lash line. Blend well with the pencil line using a small liner brush. Choose the spot where you will start applying contouring eyeshadow on the upper lid. think of the point where your upper and lower eyelids come together, and lift that point halfway to the eyebrows.with a pointy sponge applicator, apply contouring eyeshadow in a horizontal “V” shape.with a medium-sized round brush (or use a flat one, hold it sideways), blend eyeshadow in the crease and along the upper lashes towards the inner corners of your eyes. reapply and blend.connect your upper and lower lash lines by blending them together.outline the inside of your eyes with same colour pencil.LOTS OF MASCARA!

hi there,
i do this look all the time when i go out its dead easy.
1. apply a dark grey eyeshadow along upper lash line with a cotton bud as if drawing a line
2.apply a small amount along lower lash line
3. use a pearly white or cream colour eyeshadow in the crease of the eye from left to right and up to the eyebrow.
4. use a eyeshadow brush to blend the two colours together, sweeping the grey up to the crease and the white up to the brow.
5. apply a black eye pencil line over the top of the grey shadow also along the lash line.and slighty smudge it with a cotton bud,
6.apply loads of black mascara to finish.
7. only wear light coloured lips if you have smokey eyes or its too much
you ll soon get the hang of it. sara

Ok apply a thin layer of black eyeliner on your lower lid. Then put another thin layer of eyeliner on your upper lid drawing the line thicker in the middle of your eye, towards the end of your upper lid put the eyeliner on a little thicker and let it trail off the end of your eye just a little bit. With either a clean finger or a cotton bud rub your upper eyelid in an upward motion, smudging the liner upwards and away from your eyes.
That's what has always worked for me and you can do it in a couple of minutes!!
Good luck!

go for smoky eyes - always follow these stages:
- black liquid eye liner (with small flicks at the end of my eyes)
- add a neutral colour all over lids
- next a soft pink colour (as its great with brown eyes) on to lids and just above the crease
- next a soft grey colour up to crease on lid and under eye (on outer edge only)
- next a black colour just along the outer edge of eye (both ontop and underneath) this should be just a thin line along your eye liner line (definitely not upto crease)
- finally add mascara
- for an extra sparkly touch add sparkle liner along the top of eye where you originally put your black eye liner. (u can get this online from avon (avon combo of sparkle clear liner and mascara) its great for xmas
hope that all made sense, if not post a note and ill try to make it clearer...definetly have a go tho coz you'll find you'll love it...i wear mine like this most weekends when I'm out...guarantee you'll get loads of comments asking how you did it so you can pass on this info too.

First you put a dark grey, or purple, or some kind of dark color on the lid of your eye. Then you put either a little bit lighter or little darker shade of that color above your eye. Then you get black or dark blue eyeliner and smugde it on the bottom of your eyelids.
Now you have the smokey effect!
Yay!
Good luck!
God bless!
