I would like to get a nice, even tan that's not too deep but I DO NOT want to get a spray tan or get a real one because I burn, and don't tan. I've heard that some lotions gradually tan your skin...do they work and which one would be best for fair skin? If they don't do a great job...any other ways of getting a faux-glow?

Stand close to some form of radiation. Not only will you have a great tan but also those nifty super powers.

Hi! I am also very fair!! I absolutely LOVE the Dove "moisture glow" it comes in three different shades so be sure and get the one for fair skin. Usually I put it on every night before going to bed. After the first night I can't really tell anything happened but by the second or third I can really tell a difference. Be sure and take a shower when you wake up in the mornings though because if you let it sit on your skin for more than 10 -12 hours it can start spotting. Also I learned by trial and error even if you are starting to get pretty dark and want to switch to medium skin tones DONT! haha that made me orange .. stay with the fair it will keep getting darker over time! There are lots of other brands out there two but this is the first and only gradual lotion I tried and it was great!

Definately try 'Jergens' moisturizing self tanner. It is unbelievable and gave me a tan that didn't look orange (as opposed to the Dove version I tried). As a fellow fair-skinned friend, I completely understand your predicament. Jergens is the best I've tried because it smells less than the other 4 types I have tried, they have seperate styles for different skin tones, and there is a seperate lotion for your face that is darkens your skin at a lower pace.
Just a hint for a first-time user, mix the tanning lotion with moisterizer for a more subtle glow gives you a chance to get the hang of it and not have such an obvious difference if you miss a spot. Best of luck.

Well you can use the old fashioned remedy....mix iodine with baby oil and apply evenly when out of the shower. Try it first on a small area. Not everyone's skin type works with iodine.

i would go to a salon and ask about it. most salons do fax tans where they actually apply the tanner to your body. and its even and pretty. most of the over the counter stuff streaks or looks orange. the only one i might reccomend is "airbrush face" by sally hansen she has a bunch of "airbursh" stuff that works good.
