Make sure the power is off! More than likely, the coffee has poured down into other parts of the laptop.

There are usually a couple of screws on the botton which hold the keyboard in place. They are often identified with little arrows. Once these are removed, the keyboard can be "lifted" from it place. A little ribbon cable underneith can then be disconnected.

The problem is, even with the keyboard disconnected, coffee leaves a residue which itself could cause problems.

If it hasn't dried yet, you make be able to get to it all drain out by lifting it and letting it stand on it's side. You may also get a can of "computer air" (compressed air) th help get it out.

Give it an alcohol bath. Yes, pour 70 - 90% rubbing alcohol directly onto the keyboard area where the coffee was spilled, repeat a couple times. You can let it drain from the side, but I recommend dousing it then setting it side-****** or almost upside down to drain out the coffee and alcohol. You may also want to blow it out while the alcohol is still wet. This should work, just be sure it's off, and let the alcohol 'dry' it out.

Shake whatever coffee you can get out of the keys, try using a desk duster (the can that blows air) and see if it still works, but sooner or later I think you are going to have to let you mom know in case it doesn't work or the keys get sticky.
