Men - did you have kids after age 48?

Question

Geez I'm full of questions today.

Men did you have kids after age 48 or know anyone who did? And, was it their first child? How did it work out?

My last child was born when I was 40 but my grandfather had 3 children after age 50 (my dad in 1907 and twins born when he was 69, in 1909). Life was much different then and It worked out well except that he died before the children were all grown which caused a bit of a hardship on my grandmother. But as I said, it was a different time, back when neighbor had a meaning other than someone living next door so she did pretty well with friends and family helping.

Although my wife and I were never blessed with children of our own, I married when my stepson was 12 and I was 35. However, my brother-in-law was 46 when his twins were born. Six years later, he is 52 and suffers frequently from gout. I often wonder how he will be able to practice sports or scouting with his sons. He will be 62 at my nice's Sweet 16, I pray that he will be able to enjoy her growing into a beautiful, capable woman.

So , this is the reason I have concern for older aged parents. I hate to see aging deprive either parent or child of each other and their activities.
