This is a special time and in this day we can be fashionable and pregnant. Remember the days of our parents' 1 dress style. We have to splurge during this time so we can feel extra cute and feminine.

To answer your question, some can get away with minimal spending - my friend didn't gain much so she didn't shop much. She spent maybe $100 total. I usually spend about $500-$600 for my entire wardrobe (office attire, weekend, casual); plus the seasons and our size changes. In addition, sometimes we have to buy more comfortable shoes. We have a wonderful excuse to buy clothes, why not go for it! I donated my pregnancy clothing after wards (each time), so see we are actually giving back. Take advantage of this beautiful time in your life.

I got a lot from friends and bought some things on eBay, so I probably only spent $300 myself. Next time I will buy a couple more non-maternity things 1 size larger than my normal size to wear in those first few weeks and right after the baby is born. If this is going to be your last child, you can sell your stuff on eBay - I made about $200.

I spent about $100. I borrowed most of my maternity clothes from a friend of mine, but I had to buy a couple of cute basic skirts/shirts/pants (which I found on super mega clearance - bonus!!), because I like a bit more tailored, fitted look than my friend does. I briefly tried the sweat/large t-shirt thing, too, but that just made me feel dumpy, and I couldn't stand it :)

I did also buy a few empire-waist items and wrap-around/tie sweaters that I could wear both during and after pregnancy and that made my basic short-sleeved shirts work for cool weather use as well.

One nice thing about borrowing most of the maternity clothes is that I didn't have to try to find a place to store them once I was done using them! :)

I'm seven months pregnant and have probably spent about $250 total. However, I don't have a job where I had to buy professional clothes, and I'm small enough that I was able to just wear larger sizes for awhile.
Most of my clothes came from a woman who contacted me after I posted on Craigslist. I put an ad out saying I was looking for extra small, hip maternity clothes, prefferably gap or old navy styles, and she sold me everything she had for way cheap.

Thats OK, if you have it spend it. I am 19 weeks and I am sure I have spent at least that much. I am sucker for really good jeans, I have to have nice jeans, pregnant or not. However I bought alot of empire waist tops that are not maternity that I can wear afterwards while I am losing the baby weight.

I mostly wore my boyfriends shirts and track pants and some old maternity clothes I got off my sisters, I only bought two pairs of new dress pants. Its not worth it to spend so much on clothes your only going to wear for a few months

I am currently expecting my 3rd child and I had kept all my clothing from my other 2 pregnancy. The only thing I need is some spring clothes and I will get about 4 outfits for about $200.00.

I found maternity clothes to be too expensive so I just wore big t shirts and things that streched. I had a few dressing given to me by people

Less than you think, I really did not bother for have many outfits for work, just enough to wear during the week, and a couple of nice tops in case of a night out.
Also looked for blouses that I can continue wearing after birth
