Isn't the Tribute a 5 seater? If so, then no, you can't fit 6 people in it either comfortably or legally.

The Tribute is billed as a 5 passenger vehicle. It is really a 4.5 person vehicle. ( two in the two in the back, and a very small person or child squeezed in the middle)
There is no way you will reasonably seat 6 people in your Tribute. Even with 4 children in the back seat. If you are caught and you aren't working a farm, you can expect a ticket and you won't be able to travel on the way you were.
Even if you get something like an Explorer, Trailbalzer, Cherokee, etc, you are still looking at 5 seat vehicles.
Rent yourself a mini van and stay legal, but most of all safe for the folks you are transporting. The last thing you want is to be safe and sound due to your airbag and seatbelt and the folks you travel with killed if you have an accident.

Yes you can fit 6 people; the capacity for a mazda tribute is 5 officially however, if you person is willing to seat behind the rear seats you are perfectly safe with that. I had 7 in my Land Rover Ranger Rover a couple of months ago. Thats 2 behind the rear seats along with luggage. Yes, Range Rover is slightly a bigger car but not by much. We drove on the motorway and it was no problem. Apart from the weight, and wasn't too good for the fuel efficiency as i spent extra due to the weight.
good luck with your journey. enjoy

The answer is if they can be seat belted in they can go. I don't know if texas has a seatbelt law but probably does. Which in your case means your a seat short. I believe your car has a console between the front seats so you can only load 5.

I person per seatbelt. Given that that is a 5 passenger vehicle you could be hassled. TX is noted for that especially around the larger cities.

That back seat is going to be a tight squeeze for four people. That is not going to be a fun drive.
