Depends if you mean an actual 'safety button' like the ones on jars of jam or preserves, which should be indented when bought, then make a poping noise when the seal is broken, or if you're referring to one of the umpteen childproof caps you get on medicines.

If it's the former, just open it as normal, the lid'll pop and you can get into it.

If it's a medicine bottle, there should be instructions on it already - some require pushing and twisting at the same time, some need squeezing in a certain place before you twist. Look for the little arrows and if you have trouble, try wrapping an elastic band or rubber glove around the bottle top first to give you some grip, then twist.

What sort of safety button.

If you mean an actual safety lock, as on a pill bottle, press it and twist

If you mean the "safety button" on a food container, the same as normal, the "button" is just there to pop up if the seal has been breached and air is in the container

same way you would a normal bottle, the saftey button is there because once the jar/bottle has been opened the button makes a popping/clicking sound when pressed so you know if your buying dodgy opened stuff from the supermarkets

There should be a mark like an arrow where you squeeze from both sides and then twist to release the lid

the button simply shows if the bottle has been opened before or not. i.e. if someone has tampered with it.

as for opening it, just open it in the same way you normally would, the top should go pop when you open it.

Brute force - isn't the safety button there to show the bottle hasn't been tampered with?

You are supposed to press them together and turn at the same time but sometimes I end up having my husband open mine because that just doesn't work.
