I think the Bush/Gore election revealed that voting fraud takes place in every election. I was surprised to find out how much our presidential elections depend on estimates, and that votes from Americans living abroad are not even counted in most cases.

I think the general belief among election officials is that the mistakes and dirty tricks balance out in the long run, and in 99.9 percent of the elections the true candidate is elected.
