They say there are 300 million people living in the USA, but I believe that includes those who would not qualify for an American passport.

There are also many Americans living all over the globe, so the real answer to your question may be much higher...but my guess is if you subtract the individuals living in America that would not qualify for U.S. passports and add the Americans living abroad you would get back to the same figure: 300 million.
