My husband just popped a piss test. His boss told him to tell the lab that he eats ibuprofen like candy. My Q is will it show up and fool the test to think it's marijuana or coke? My husband might have a problem and he won't admit it to me.

Ibuprofen False Positive For Thc

2016-10-29 07:56:11 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Their really is no false positive for cocainne, a few physical ailments such as kidney or liver problems, or even diabetes MAY show a false positive when testing for coke, but it is doubtful. Also cocainne only stays in your system for 72 hours, so if he did test positive, use has been recent.
A false positive for THC can come from a variety of medications, including ibuprofen. It depends on the type of test that the lab uses as to whether or not a false positive would result from use of motrin, advil, ect. Again these medications MAY cause a false positive, but chances are that the test is accurate.
If your husband does insist that his test is incorrect, he should request another test, and this time inform the lab of ALL medications that he has taken. The lab does request this information at the time of testing.

Ibuprofen in high doses can show as THC on a urine test, or at least it's an excuse given by drug users as to why they came up with high THC levels (though most marijuana smokers smell like unflushed toilets anyways).

No it won't "show up" as either one.
Ibuprofen is, chemically speaking, completely unrelated to THC or cocaine or almost any drugs of abuse.

Speaking as a chemist, I would be able to distinguish them in a heartbeat through many analytical tests.

Either there is a flaw in the test or your hubby is hiding something.

Ibuprofen CAN cause a false positive for THC, but depends on the company how they will react. They may send him for a more sophisticated (and expensive) hair drug test.

No, it can't. If it was a quality test, there are really no such things as false positives anymore. The urine tested had THC in it. That's not to say that mistakes in sample custody don't happen... which is to say it may not have been YOUR urine. If it was for a job test and you get disciplined for it, demand the custody paperwork (where the samples were signed for). Good luck.

No ibuprofen will not hide or show up as any other drug,You cant fool the test in any way.

Ibuprofen will not show up as anything other than what it is. Now, if he's had muffins or bagels with poppy-seeds on it, it can show up as opiates on the drug test. If that's the case, they'll have him repeat, without eating those muffins and or bagels...IF THAT'S WHAT HE'S DOING.....
If your Husband is doing drugs, it will show up as such. He can't deny the test results. Good luck!
