Money and that jerkoff Delaney plus the TV rights mixed together are the main reasons. I just read that article with Delaney and he reminds me of King George of the Yanks. There is way too much money involved plus no real honest way to devise a playoff system so we are left with BSU screeching for Ohio State who will gleefully pound that little smurf field fifth rate conference into a woeful submission (and I would even run up the score against them) if the bogus computer rankings wouldn't severly penaltize them for doing so to begin with.

I know what u mean man their should be a playoff system because the whole Div. 1A would be so much easier and better. I mean everyother sport has playoffs like basketball and pro football and it seems to be the best solution. Why not make it for Div 1A too?

Simple. It's all about the Benjamin's! The BCS bowls pay out $17,000,000 to EACH SCHOOL! That's $170,000,000 in those 5 games alone! Who in their right mind is going to turn down a share of that pot? I would like to see a playoff BASED on the BCS ranking system to have a true national champion, but because of the relationship with the bowl system over the years, everyone including marginal teams (6-6 or 7-5 teams) gets rewarded in an effort to make enough MONEY to keep their programs going and expose recruits to the fact that even the marginal teams are "going to bowls".

To quote the introductory song of The Apprentice... "money, money, money, mon-ay!"
Everyone wants it. Nobody is getting it.
The coaches, the fans, the players - all want a playoff.
It is a question that perplexes many.
