12th night or just after is the traditional norm, but there is no set standard time. Some do earlier, some much later.

6th January. "Little Christmas", where traditionally the women get their respite from all the heavy work associated with christmas. (The last day of the official christmas period, the twelve days of christmas.) the point about the women? The decorations are up to indicate christmas is still on. End of the christmas period? take them down.

You don't HAVE to take them down by a certain date. My family actually has one tree in the basement that stays up year-round, and is decorated in red, white and blue ornaments. We keep that tree up to symbolize our support for the troops. Typically speaking though, January 6th ("Little Christmas") is the day decorations should come down by. It's the day that the three Kings visited Jesus, Joseph and Mary.

I used to take them down after January 7, because we had alot of Ukranian and Polish friends who celebrated new years according to a different calender (I can't remember what it was called now) But now we don't celebrate New Years so the Christmas stuff is usually down before Jan 1.

There is no date when you HAVE to take them down. Most people do that on New Years.

I took down our tree at artwork on New 12 months's Day. looked the final time as we had few clientele. My domicile continues to be adorned, yet i'm thinking that ought to end as we talk (the fourth), as i'm off artwork. Heaven in basic terms is conscious how long till my next spoil day! The artwork schedule has to dictate when I do issues, better than superstition!

Today (6th) is twelfth night - superstition says that it is unlucky to leave decorations up after today.
