I am looking to buy a game system and would like to know which system to buy for my 5 yo son. I like the Playstation 3 but wow...599 plus tax? The xbox 360 seems nice too. Im not too keen on the Wii because I do not want things broken in my house. Or should I start him off on a playstation 2?

He is 5 years old, get him a PS2 and let him break the dam thing, he is going to anyways... what's 120 bucks compared to 3-7 hundred? He isn't going to know the difference anyways, give him time and the PS3, Wii, XBox 360 prices will all come down in a couple years when people stop buying them for thier 5 year olds and he will be old enough then to decide which one he really wants to save his allowence for..

I would start with the Wii, as Nintendo has been known to make more games geared towards a younger audience. They also have a normal controller that you can buy instead of the nunchaku designed controller that you wave around. Plus, the price of the Wii is slightly lower than the Xbox 360 at around $250-$300.

I consistently recommend between the classic on-line sport structures like the unique Nintendo or Sega Genesis. you'll locate them fairly low-cost, so if it receives damaged its not a huge deal. also i stumble upon that the youngsters have plenty a lot less stressful time with cartridge depending video games vs. cd's. yet another massive component is that the former structures have fewer buttons so it truly is way less stressful to play for someone who don't have that great of hand eye coordination yet. The wii might want to be interesting yet i imagine a 5 year previous would not extremely needs a $250 dollar sport device as their first foray into gaming.

I think you should reconsider the Wii. My son is 4 and he loves it and there isn't going to be anything broken in the house. You are more likely to break something than he is because you can throw faster etc. The other systems are really not made for children that young. Even the Wii you will probably have to help him with.

Go to http://urlx.org/directtrack.com/b40f8 , type in your Zip Code, and it'll tell you what stores in your area are getting the Playstation 3 and approx when. They have the newest games and have them for all ages.

Go with the Wii, he and his friends will have more fun and they offer more games for his age. it's only 249 and you won't have to worry about him begging you next year for halo or call of duty video games.
