First, where are you now?

When buying a suitcase, please keep in mind:

1. how long you will be away. Are you able to do your laundry weekly? If you are, then you can bring less clothes.

2. if you plan to buy a lot of things. If you are, then you need a bigger suitcase. It will be filled once you leave Denver.

3. comfort and maneuverability. Please get a suitcase with 4 wheels and a sturdy pull handle. Travelling is easier when you have wheels on your suitcase. Give it a try in the department store. It should feel comfortable, should handle easily with one hand. Try it on different surfaces: carpet, tiles.

4. weight and durability. Please make sure that the suitcase is lightweight yet sturdy, waterproof if possible (more expensive) but water repellent is fine too, and has a warantee. Do remember to keep the warantee card and the receipt, in case you need to report any damage.

5. visibility. Please choose a bright color or print. Easier to spot in the conveyor in a sea of luggages.

6. security. Please get a suitcase belt. This will keep your suitcase closed and secure. Please use it properly: has to be tight around the suitcase; if it is loose, it is not doing what it is supposed to do. A few pesos spent on a belt is worth more than trying to put back all your spilled belongings in a crowded airport. Also if your luggage has a built-in combination lock, it is easier because you need not look for you keys in your purse.

7.quality. Luggages undergo a lot of jostling and get piled on top of one another. Please make sure that seams are even, zippers close smoothly, latches close securely. Quality will be worth its price.

You can buy a suitcase in a good department store. If you are in the Philippines, any SM mall will have it, or look for a specialty shop selling luggages. Brands to recommend: Delsey, Samsonite.

Have fun!

Any department store. Just keep in mind that you do get what you pay for.

My wife and I bought a couple of suitcases for my in laws when they traveled to the US. We figured they'd only need it for one round trip, so we bought relatively inexpensive ones.

By the time the suitcases got here, they were pretty banged up, with one where one wheel was broken off. They just went back a couple months ago, and they survived that trip. I don't know if they can withstand another round trip, but that would be one trip more than we'd expected.

The malls carry the real expensive luggage. But believe it or not, a week ago I saw a nice size suitcase for 1000 peso at Watsons drug store (SM in Dasmariñas).

where you at?

if you're in the Philippines, im pretty sure you could find a lot of 'em in the malls.. particulary SM malls.. but i prefer robinson's department store.. they usally have a very good sale for luggages all year round..

if you're here in the US, try ROSS, Marshalls, TJ max.. you can find more than you need at a very good price.. of course MAcy's and other department stores have 'em too but a lot expensive..

You can buy luggage at any department store or even at Target. If you want second hand items, you can try craigslist.com where people in your area sell various stuff.
