Well my luck is always bad with my birthday. For example, I tell people "look I don't want anything what so ever for my birthday. that includes a party, any gift, or any reference to it being my birthday." And what do people do? They throw me a party. Then when I ask for a party and say that gift and everything is fine, no one does a single nice thing for me. I got ignored that whole day.

I tend to make my own plans (unless my birthday falls on Thanksgiving, as it did this year, so my plans are made for me). Also, I tell my mom precisely how my birthday cake should be. It works out well.

Rule of thumb make your own plans and people are always happy to join in. Sometimes you get disappointed when you expect something from others.

Hey Matt, I usually tend to make my own plans when it gets closer to my b-day festivities! Of course, as you get older, you want to take on more of this since you're no longer a child, or you're a swinging bachelor...know what I mean? More happier birthdays!

My birthday is Dec. 28th so by that time everybody is pretty much done in with Christmas and preparing for New Years so I have found it best to just do what i want to do and if friends want to join in then all the better. But usually i keep it very low key.

I don't expect anything. I usually just go for a drink or two after work with a friend for my birthday.

one thing I have learned about birthdays, if you expect anything from anybody else you are sure to be disappointed.

I started giving myself the same birthday present every year -- I do not go to work on my birthday -- I did went to work once in 1986 and regretted it, so all I ask is do not make me work on my birthday!
