Failure to Appear. It generally leads to an automatic Bench Warrant issued by the court. If you are stopped by the authorities before you clear it up (broken tail light, speeding, etc.), and they run you through Wants and Warrants, you may face immediate arrest. Better to call the court and deal with it as soon as possible rather than let it hang over your head.

missing a court date for a civil matter is called a default. if you have a conciliation court matter and one party doesn't show up, that is a default which automatically causes the case to be dropped if the plaintiff defaults, or the case to be won by the plaintiff if the defendant defaults.
