The website shown above is a website that I made last summer for a day camp. It was my first time making a website, and I think I did a good job. However, since I was using a free version of geocities to make the site, the site has many problems, such as it closes at random times if too many viewers check it out.

I came across this really, really nice site above, and while it is not for a day camp of any kind, I really like the layout and style. How can I make a new website that looks like this?

PS: No one at the camp really told me to make any kind of website, and being that it would be for them and not for me, I would prefer not to spend any money to create a new looking site.

Thanks in advance!

Dio, you mention that a .CSS would be useful in making a website similar to the one I posted. Could you or someone else give me a little more advice as to how I do that, and what program I use? I would really, really appreciate it.

Your geocities website looks very nice. If you want to use the layout of the other website, here's a trick that many new webdesigners use to practice their favorite layouts. Go to the website you like, right-click your mouse and choose "View Source". A new window will open with the source code (the HTML code that was used to create that web page).

To learn about CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) which control all the presentational aspects of a webpage (i.e. the formatting, fonts, sizes, etc.), you can begin here with this very easy-to-follow tutorial:

Good luck.

There is nothing in there that would cost you anything. A little bit of javascript, and a .css (cascading style sheet) tied to a table format.

Look up .css files, they vastly improve the presentation of an HTML page. They can be a separate file, or included in the header of the page itself.

Microsoft (free domain and hosting for life) , Google (Googlepages, Blogger) , Yahoo (Geocities), Freewebs are some of the companies offering free websites with design tools . A list of free websites with features and links is available at http://tinyurl.com/lw7kp
