I have been a fan all of my life. At first I was mad, but now that it is set in that it will defintly happen I have come to terms of moving on. Maybe this is the best direction for the franchise. The team looked unmotivated through most part of last season. I wish him luck, he has been a class act for many many years here. He has stayed longer than most coaches would have. I will root for him wherever he goes. Unless he goes to Cleveland which is very possible. But my prediction is he will go to Carolina in 2 years.

I have lived in Pittsburgh most of my life and as well have been a big Steeler fan. Recently I have moved to Charlotte, NC and there has been a lot of big news about because he bought a home in Raleigh, NC. This is where his wife is from, this is where he meet her and where they both went to college at NC State. Recently the NC State coach was fired and no one has been hired as of yet. Coincidental, I am not sure but he would be taking a pretty hefty pay cut to coach for college vs nfl. But he once mentioned a very, very long time ago that he always wanted to coach for his alma mater. Go figure GO STEELERS
Also did you know that it is very odd for a coach to last more than five seasons with the same team. I would say that he has done his time and it is time for him to move on for the next era to take place. Remember the Rooney's are not going to let just anyone coach the Steeler's. The Steeler's organization is the last organization that is not only still owned by the same family as day one, but that it never had sponsorship from a corporation. It is still just a mom and pop organization and I think that the Rooneys will keep it that way for many years to come.

I've been a Steeler junkie since the'50's, so I've seen coaches come & go. It's a business & you fans better get that fact thru your heads. Do you hate each player that leaves a team at the end of the season for more$$$ from another team? If Coach Cowher wants to retire, coach at another team, pick cocconuts or lay on a beach & count the waves, so what? It's supposed to be a free countyr & folks are permitted to do what they want to do. He'll always have a place in Steeler's fans hearts just like Chuck Knoll does. Remember him? He coached 4 Super Bowl winners & no one got hysterical when he left.

I think that it must have been Cowher who wanted to leave. The Steelers will end up paying a much less accomplished coach more money too.
I don't think that Cowher would take any open job right now except for maybe Arizona...if he wants to move there. The dolphins are a wreck, the Raiders are still owned by Al, so they are not good options.

Are you ridiculous?!?! Preacher has got the right attitude! First off, I don't care what anyone says, it was not about the money. If it was, why would he walk away now? If it had ever been about the money, he would have started looking for it earlier in his career. Coaches leave teams all the time. We just happened to have a fabulous coach in Bill Cowher and we are all sad to see him go. He will always have the respect and love of all true Steelers fans. I know my heart is black and gold. If more teams would hang onto a coach instead of throwing him away after one losing season, we'd have more teams like the Steelers. It's hard to adjust to Coach B's style after having Coach A ram his style down your throat. Argh....

i thought from the first time that i heard he might leave that it was about money. cowher can take a year or two off and then come back to the nfl and make 2 times what he was making in pittsburgh somewhere else. it sucks to see him go, but if his heart's no longer in pittsburgh, he won't do any good there anyway.

I'm a Dolphins fan and would be estatic if he decided to come back to coaching and we hire him. Cowher is good for football and one of the greatest coaches ever. I look forward to him coming back in a year or two...if he walks away at all.

he is free to choose, but he has stated all along that he wanted to be with his family...i think that a move to another team without him talking a year off would leave a bad taste in ALOT of fan's mouths...I know that would be the case for me...but it would be a good situation for the steelers though because we could get some draft picks out of it

I think he should go to Canada and teach Ice Hockey. Or go to the North Pole and teach sledding. This is just a ploy for more money. He is losing his touch and is trying to get as much as he can before he gets FIRED!!!!!
I am definitely not a fan!!!!
