I am so afraid of spiders. It is not exactly, what you would call a phobia, but i might have a hint of it. I cannot stand looking at one, and daddy long legs (yes, i am quite aware that they are not spiders) are potentially worse, because they fly around the room.

Money spiders, i can just about handle, but anything bigger i just freak out. I also need fear of overcoming other things such as moths and butterflies. It's true. I am scared of a butterfly. I don't like the fact that they are so fidgety and fluttery. I almost scream if one comes close to me. Moths are worse, because they are attracted to the light, and they come into the bathroom if i am not careful with shutting the window. What am i to do? Hypnosis, is not even a thinkable possibility, 1, because i am at school, and havent got the time, and 2, i know i will have with spiders around in every day life, once the weather gets warmer.

Can anybody help?

I understand exactly how you feel! Far too many creepy crawlies on this earth for me!
But Lateralus is totally misinformed, the Daddy Long Legs is NOT poisonous at all, and it isn't a true spider. Its true name is "harvestman" and it isn't an arachnid. It is one of the most harmless and helpless and basically brainless creatures on this earth.
It sounds odd, but learning about these creatures will help you. If you go to a zoo or animal park that houses some of the smaller critters of this type (and many do), and talk to the people in charge, I'm sure they'd be more than glad to give you some information about them that would make them seem more interesting and less threatening.
Start small, with magazine pictures or in encyclopedias. (I agree, the extreme closeups in National Geographic would horrify anyone!) Then contact someone in a zoo or even a natural history museum and explain that you are trying to get informed in order to help you combat this phobia.
And also, it sounds silly, but remember you are sooo much bigger, fiercer and more dangerous than they are. You are a much bigger threat to them than they are to you! Get one of those plug-in bug repellants to at least ward off the winged ones. Best of luck!!

As far as I know, the "daddy long legs" is a spider and doesn't fly.

Examine why you are afraid of them - really dig deep and see what is so scary about them to you. Most likely, you are just scared because you have learned to act that way around these insects. What harm could they possibly do to you that you need to be afraid of? Really think about these things and perhaps rational thought will prevail.

I sympathise as they freak me out too. And I don't like Daddy Long Legs as my clever friend who got top marks in Biology and all sciences at school told me Daddy Long Legs carry tuberculosis.

I personally wipe down our house surfaces.. floors handrails down each month with hot water mixed with citronella... as I'm told spiders hate the scent of citronella.

Daddy long leg spiders are the most poisonous spiders on the planet and if they could bite through human skin (but they can't because of the size of their mouths),we'd all be scared shitless.

I am very afriad of any kind of spider.

I don't think this is an unreasonable fear so long as you don't allow it to become unmanageable. I have a deathly fear of snakes, I watched all the nature shows and gradually got somewhat desensitized so that now I can at least tolerate them.
