Speaking of Congress, I do not think they should be prevented from owning stock in "medicine" or anything else.

But, they must fully disclose all of their stock ownership in real-time on their own Congressional website, with clear easy access. If nefarious conflicts arise, their own constituents have the ability to vote them out. If their constituents put up with any shenanigans, then you know what parts of the country not to visit.

Why "Medicine"? If you're concerned about some conflict of interest, does it occur to you that Congressmen also pass laws concerning every single other industry in the economy? Aren't you worried that they might be influenced by their holdings of stock in, say, computers or software, or telecom equipment or publishing, or Internet media or retail stores, or railroads or airlines, or real estate or mining firms, or accounting firms or paper suppliers, or ...........
