It dies because it is cut from its life source, the rose bush. The gift of the rose itself represents the meaning of love to whom ever you give it to.
Have you ever tried to kill a rose bush?? Short of digging it up out of the ground completely, you can cut one flush to the ground and it will keep coming back to bare new roses. So maybe it's better to look at it from that perspective.

Cut Rose's have a meaning when sent .Red is a message of love.Pink is interest,yellow apology,and white sympathy.They signify a sentiment not a meaning.

key word being "represents" doesnt mean thats what love is.
