There is a program called Internet Cyclone that I use to tweak the speed settings on my broadband connection at home. It's free to download a trial, and you only need to run it once, so it doesn't matter that it's a trial; it will not continue to run after you have tweaked your connection settings.
Also, use Firefox as your web browser and get the Fasterfox extension for Firefox. It will tweak your Firefox browser settings to make it run faster.
Other than that, there's really not much more that you can do... your best speeds on broadband are going to be when no one else on your neighborhood's "line" is on the Internet. With all broadband, you are sharing a line with multiple other people, so your connection is dependent upon how much of that line is available to you.

To speed up download time you need download accelerator,which you can download free off charge from www.download.com,but to improve your broadband speed you have to contact your( ISP) Internet service provider

format ur HD if u can so u have a fresh PC
Make sure other running programmes are closed esp MSN, and listnin to music / radio
remove temp internet files that build up quickly on ur HD as u surf the web.
Disable all graphical enhancements.
move ur pc closer to ur wireless router if necessary.
More Ram (I have 2gig of ram)
and obviously you need broadband!

go to and download "DAP" --Download accelerator plus. This should fix you up nicely. Remember this is a download manager. If you don't like it you can always get rid.

De-clutter your PC. Defrag and clear old files that are not in use.
Start - all programmes - accessories - system tools - disc cleanup/ defrag.
Tools - internet options - delete cookies/ delete files - clear history.
