Jeez some people are so aggressive on this site. I understood your question. It means that children who are exposed to violence within the family i.e. seeing the mother... or the father being physically abused by the spouse or another - could become over protective of the parent i.e. clingy to the parent and/or aggressive towards or wary of others interacting with the parent. It is an anxiety reaction brought on by the child seeing the parent being hurt.

Sometimes children are less than forthright with the authorities, as they are nervous of the consequences to their parents. This could lead to their not telling about violence which they have witnessed at home in case it leads to the break up of the family. Sometimes they will take sides with a parent who is the victim of violence and as a result become aggressive themselves.
