Do imaginary friends exist. Is this simply a fictional phenomena?

I have always thought of imaginary friends as something in the movies or story books. How can we prove that this is indeed fact or fiction with so little information. Is this an out of body experience, is it reated to Satre's theory on mind and body? Please help me explain the experience. Thanks

Because they are imaginary you can never prove their existance no matter how real the perception of the person imagining it.

This is a very good question. I always though of "imaginary friends" as a spirit or a ghost maybe.. i dunno? I''ve never had one of those.. but it is kinda scary to know that a kid is talking to someone as if it's real so thats why I always thought it would've been a ghost or something.
