I need you help. I am trying to my Chemistry PPA in scotland.

The effect of Concentration Changes on Reaction rate.

By adding ameasured amount of water to the potassium iodide while keeping the total volume of the mixture the same.
ie. 1st : 100%potassium iodide (25cm cubed) + no water
2nd : 80% potassium iodide (20cm cubed) + 20% water (5cm cubed)
All other factors had to be kept constant in volume and concentration (1mol-1 sulphuric acid, 0.1 mol-1 hydrogen peroxide, 0.005 mol-1 sodium thiosulphate) also temperture.

Then we woek out the rate of reaction by doing a stop clock thing where we watch for it turnign black, and the dividing 1 by time. Draw a graphVolume of KI (cm cubed) against Rate s-1

anyway to the point WHAT IS THE CONCLUSUION OF THIS EXPERIMENT. I JUST DONT KNOW

T^hank you so much. I will write. The concentration of KI is directly proportional to Rate of Reaction.

Thank you so much

The things that effect rate of reaction are concentration, particle size(surface area) and temperature. Since you kept other factors the same, and changed concentration, you should be able to conclude that as the concentration increased so did the reaction rate.Or the other way around as the concentration decreased, the rate of reaction decreased or it took longer.

As the concentration becomes more dilute the rate of reaction will become slower.
Reason ; there less reacting molecules in the solution. They are further apart and so collide less frequently, making for less frequent successful collisions.

Just to add to what the science teacher has already given you, volume also affects the rate of reactions. You are on the right tract and good luck in your examinations.

i have done this ppa in higher scottish chem, you finding it hard? i'm finding it impossible, have you been on scholar by heriot watt uni on the internet or something? our school registered with it and it practically gives you the answers to the ppas, if you can't get on that then buy one of the revision book things they practically give you the answers too.
