Average is around 30 - 60 and good typists are over 100. The average has become a little higher since people use computer keyboards now rather than electric typewriters or even manual typewriters. The type of keyboard you use can determine whether you type slower or faster. Due to the positioning, a laptop keyboard tends to slow a typist down.

A good typist can do over 100 words per minute. But average is probably much lower, around 30-60 for the average person.
