My baby is 2weeks old and I'm currently breastfeeding him and giving him formula at night, so my husband can be involved.I'm weighing my options of permantly putting him on formula b/c my husband feels left out.I love the bond my son and I have during nursing, however breastfeeding is taking a toll on my body.
My baby is feeding faster than my milk is coming in & and I feel he gets full off formula rather than breast milk. I need some advice, should I continue to breastfeed or give my husband a chance and offer formula?

Surely there are other ways your husband can be involved other than feeding. He can bathe his baby, take him for walks, sing to him, read to him, just being with him is something special. Just because you're nursing doesn't mean he will not bond with the baby. It's just our biological setup. If you can, try and breast feed as long as possible - no need to deprive your child of the benefits of nursing because Dad's jealous.

It is great that you are breast feeding your baby. It's really important that your baby received the colostrum that was in your breastmilk. Colostrum contains large numbers of antibodies called "secretory immunoglobulin" (IgA) that help protect the mucous membranes in the throat, lungs, and intestines of the infant. Leukocytes are also present in large numbers; these begin protecting the infant from harmful viruses and bacteria. Ingesting colostrum establishes beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract.

If you feel that you are not getting enough milk to feed your baby, you may use a breast pump to pump your milk. This sometimes helps your milk supply come in more. Therefore having more milk for your baby.
If you pump your milk, your milk can be stored in the refridgerator for a time when it is needed. And your husband can feed the baby this expressed milk.
You can even supplement with formula like you are doing.

The important decision lies with you and what you are comfortable with. This is your body and your baby. I wish you well and congratulations.

If you don' t have enough milk, supplement with the formula. Also there is no reason you can't use a breast pump and store the milk so than the baby get's the benefit of the breast milk and your husband can feed the baby and bond.

There are plenty ways of hubby being involved...bath time, walks, don't give up nursing. You can supplement with formula and let hubby do that. At 2 weeks your milk isn't established yet...hang in there...the milk will come more. Do both...formula and breastfeeding.

If the child is also eating formula then do both and let hubby feed with a bottle. Other ways hubby can be involved is bathing, changing diapers, holding.
