I have a hard disk recorder/player. Which will give me the best sound quality - recording at 64kbps or 192kbps.

192kbps (higher figure = higher quality)

192kbps the 64kbps will sound very unreal and possibly skip or not play at all. if you want the best quality then use the best quality(rule of thumb)

if you are talking about recording then 192 kbs option will RECORD best quality. if you are talking about playing then this option won't affect the sound quality and the quality on which it was recorded will be produced
