Also, pc power & cooling has a good selection depending on how much power you need though it is very expensive. I've upgraded my e510 with pc power 470-Dell (470watts) and works perfectly. You can also get an off-the-shelf psu and then add an adapter for 10 bucks but it could be risky to your gpu or mobo if it fails.

All 3rd party power supplies are compatible, you just might have to do a slight modification to the metal in the case to get it to install. The whole Dell Power Supply compatibility things has not been an issue for 6 years, when Dell switched back to using standard power supply connections. The only issue will be mounting it in the case, which just takes a small modification to the case bracket.

Probably. But if your computer is still under warranty, installing a 3rd-party party power supply will void the warranty.

My suggestion: Check your computer's service tag on support.dell.com to find your warranty status. If the warranty is still in effect, and your situation is that the power supply that came with your computer blew up, Dell will send you a replacement for free ... no shipping charges, even. There's a little RMA (Returned Materials Authorization) paperwork to fill out (since you will need to send them the dead one), but it's no big deal. Good luck!
