I worked at Mcdonalds and Dunkin Donuts in a small town in CT. At Dunkin Donuts we washed the trays throughly and sanitised them. At Mcdonalds we just put a wet colth that had been diped in sanitiser that everyone dirty hands went into and washed the trys that way. Your best bet when eating in a fast food chain is to ask for the meal to go. Then take the bag to a tabel and set everything on the bag and napkins. The tabels are not any cleaner then the trays. Hope this was of some help to you.

Wipe them off with a not so clean rag. NEVER eat food that has touched a meal tray or table. I work at a sit down restaurant and you wouldn't believe how filthy those rags are. I have seen rags dropped on the floor and used again without ever rinsing them out. Once should be the limit for complaining about your food. Complaining about your food really irks the cooks and they will do some pretty nasty things to your food.

Everytime I've seen an employee in any fast food restaurant get the used trays, they always just wipe them off with a rag. However, I can't speak for all restaurants, and hopefully they wash them all at the end of the day.

If you were getting minimum wage, being rushed to do 5 things at once, would you stop and wipe all those trays or just restack them?

Judging by the crust on the tables in some of those fast food restaurants, I don't think they even bother to wipe the tables off half the time.

They run them through the dishwasher... and then wipe them with a rag to dry them off. The question is... what else did they use the rag for?

When I worked at Jack In the Box and Peter Piper Pizza, we had to wash the trays.

Jack - we had people spilling ketchup, soda, salt, syrup, and who knows what else, wo they got dirty and just wiping them doesn't work. Besides, it is a way to give hours to people that you don't want handling cash (can't count past 5 and are always short in their register)

Peter- We served beer, breadsticks, wings, salads, sodas, ice cream, and cake. talk about a mess. that has to be washed, rinsed, and sanatized. would you want to eat your food off a wiped down tray, not after working for that many hours.
