I have had four kids.. and yes each one is different. But the signs are pretty much the same. The contractions will be pretty regualar, they will actually hurt, your belly will have dropped, you will be unusually energetic, and you'll nest with a vengance.

There is not much you can do to bring it on. But seaman is known to cause contractions. and walking helps your hips spread easier allowing the baby's head to 'irritate' your cervex. But in the end, you're waiting for the baby to release a certain hormone. You can't force that.

I know it's hard, but try to be patient.

The contractions will get worse. When they get to 5 mins apart call you doctor though, even if they don't hurt.

My last baby was virtually painless until I hit 8 cm... so pay attention. Just walk, walk, walk, walk....

39 weeks is fine to go into labor.

good luck.

Which membranes are you talking about? If you're talking about loseing your mucus plug, then there's nothing to worry about. But if you broke your water, then you should've had that baby within 24 hours of breaking your water. You're risking infections that could be deadly by waiting to go to the hospital.

If you're water broke, call the doctor right away.

If you're contractions are coming every 5 minutes or less, then you need to call your doctor. They might decide to have you come in.

If it's false labor and you want to make it real labor...you can try having sex (the cervical stimulation will cause the uterus to start contracting regularly). Nipple stimulation will also help. Walking a lot (gravity).
