just don't ask him for three more wishes - this seems to annoy the genie fraternity to no end.

A friend told me that other products were better so I bought some other brand, not the Champ but one of the ones that they sell at Babies 'r'us. Wish I had bought the Genie. I used it with the boys I babysat for and it was way better. It kept the stinky smell out of the room, it holds way more diapers, and it goes longer between refills. Some people don't like the way the bags are set up, but after a few times of using it and doing the refills its actually quite easy to do. Be sure to read the instructions...it will save alot of wasted plastic. Plus the genie has thicker plastic that you can buy to keep odors in even more so than the regular plastic which is great when they get bigger.

The Diaper Genie is too expensive. You have to buy special bags for it and everything. We got a pail that uses regular garbage bags (the tall white ones), and it has a flip top to keep out the smell. It works great. (Currently can't recall the name of it, sorry, but it is popular.)

I use a diaper genie and as long as you keep emptying it, then you won't have a problem. I made the mistake of not emptying it once when I was going away for the weekend, and when I got back it smelled absolutely horrible.

I had one and I didnt think it was worth the money, I would get some diaper bags, you can find them at the dollar tree ( or small trash bags that are scented) and every time you change a diaper tie it up in on of those bags that helped alot more than the genie. You can get 50 bags for 1 dollar.

I have one and I like it. The genie itself isn't that expensive, but it's about 5 bucks every time you buy the bag cartridge thing for it. It helps with the smell in the nursery somewhat, although if you get a few really bad diapers, you'll probably still be changing it early. Oh, and I need to clean mine today - thanks for the reminder!

We had one and it was fine until the Baby was eating solids, then even when buying the proper packaging for a child eating solids it started to smell.
That and the very smell of the plastic perfume they use to try and cover the diapers starts to get sickening.
In the end we just went for a straight up diaper pale that sits outside of our kitchen door in the backyard, and it was the best move we made.
Diapers are expensive to begin with and when you tack on the genie then the filler you buy all the time it can be down right taxing, from my personal experience I'd advise against it.

I found that it worked okay if I emptied it regularly, but once my daughter was on solids, I found it didn't work at all. I just use the disposable bags for diapers and put her soiled diapers in them and then throw them in with our garbage. We empty our garbage about twice a week and I have never smelled them. The urine diapers I just throw in the garbage because they don't stink.

If you empty it often enough, yes. Most people don't empty it often enough and then it can get funky. Some people put a "stick up" type air freshener in the bottom of it. The main reason we liked it was because we had a dog and we didn't have to worry about him being interested in what was in the pail.

My friend says it doesn't work. She advices me not to purchase one. She says it better just to put the poopy diapers in a grocery bag to contain the smell, and empty the garbage daily or every other day. She says it's a waste of money.
