volume of wood = 40*40*(18/10)(cm)^3
= 2880(cm)^3=0.00288m^3
cost per 1cubic metre = £300
therefore total cost = £300*0.002880 =£0. 864

Apples, Oranges.
You want to transfer an item that is sold based on piece (panel) or size (40x40, 18mm thk) into a volume measurement (cubic meters). You shouldn't.
At least in the United States, you'd sell this type of unit by piece or by square foot. Volume doesn't tell you a damned thing between pieces (because now you have to think about the thickness, which someone buying wood panels only thinks about for about 1/4 second).
But if you REALLY want to do this, you've already got your basic volume equation written out in your question (.40x.40x.018)x =1m^3 (solve for x).
Next week will you be pricing spilled gasoline? (4 liters spread evenly over a 30x40m area - how thick is the liquid in the spill?)

100 cm = 1 m 100*100*100 cubic cm = 1 cubic m 10^6 cubic cm = 1 cubic m So 550000 cubic cm = ? cubic m ? = 550000*1/10^6 = 55*10^4 / 100*10^4 = 55/100 = 0.55 Ans: 0.55 cubic m

Vol. of wood = 40 x 40 x 1.8 cm^3
= 2880 cm^3
1m^3 = 1,000,000 cm^3
Vol of wood = 2880/1,000,000 m^3
Cost = (2880/1,000,000) x £300
= £0.864

You can use unit analysis.
1 cm = 10^-2 m
1 mm = 10^-3 m
40cmx40cmx18mm
=[40(10^-2)m][40(10^-2)m]
[18(10^-3)m]
=2.88(10^-3) m^3
By unit analysis,
[2.88(10^-3) m^3](300 pounds/1 m^3) = 0.864 pounds

1 metre is 100 centimetres
So 1 cubic metre is 100 x 100 x 100 = 1,000,000 cubic centimetres.
40 x 40 x 1.8 = 2,880 cc = 0.00288 cubic metres = £0.86
Yeah, okay, I misread it first time!

I think you.....
add up each of the sides or multiply, and then mucltiply by x10 (to the little miinus 4)
I remember vagually doing it in physics

Correct answer is 40x40x1.8=2880³cm (is panel volume) or 0.002880³m
1³m/0.002880=347.
£300.00/347=0.86p panel cost
I hope this is right??!!
