Yes, Marissa dies at the end of season 3. It's now in season 4 and it has been cancelled. The last episode will air in February. "Jump the shark" means that a show did something so big that it could not top it and then it declines. It refers to an episode of Happy Days where the Fonz jumps over a shark. The series went down after that. I guess in this case they are talking about the death of Marissa.
