She's 93. Has been in and out the hospital for the last three months. She has diabetes, under-active thyroid, fluid on her lungs & heart, heart failure... her pacemaker might be replaced today if she's not too weak... and the meds they have her on leaves her kinda loopy... just out of it.

You can't give someone hope. That's something that comes from the soul. Is your Grandma very ill? Maybe she is looking to take the next step in her journey....maybe instead of desperately wanting her to stay here with you...you should think about letting her go. We are a greedy lot, we want our loved ones to be with us forever, but that just isn't life. And there comes a time when we have to surrender and let go. Maybe that is where your Grandma is...you should ask her. Don't be afraid of the answer and don't be afraid to let her body go. She will always be with you as long as you hold her in your heart and memories. This could be one of the hardest things you have ever done...and one of the best. Do you want your Grandma suffering on meds chained to a bed unable to live life to the fullest? Or do you want her to find peace? Look beyond your needs. I hope you both find a peace whatever that may be.

Hope is best described as the actuallization of future desire. You really can't just give someone hope. To help build the hope that she has, perhaps there's something that she's always wanted to do, in other words, is there anything that she desires to do in the future. To give someone strength, you need to give them love. Love can endure all things. If you and your whole family can show to your grandmother that she is loved, that will give strength.

And this may not quite be the answer that you were looking for, but the Bible is called the book of Hope. Turn to it, read it, study it, find out who this Jesus guy is. Find something in it that gives you hope and give it to your grandmother.

Tell her that she has lived a perfect life, and she has reached the pinnacle now.

She has to enjoy each and every moment of what is left and distribute her wisdom and love to all the people around her who love her so much.

you can't give hope, but she will not find it in a book either or that jesus guy. If she does not feel needed, there is nothing you can tell her to make her feel better. Tell her that you need her.
