I belong to 2 'genre' book clubs just for the catalogs. I find books that look interesting and check them out at the library. If they're good, I buy them, second hand if I can. Every once in a while I'll just troll through the shelves and grab something that looks interesting. If I find an author I like, I like to own all their books, especially when I find a great one that's nearly forgotten like Josephine Tey or Charlotte Armstrong. I do love Barnes & Noble, but I usually only buy from their used section or when a loved one gets me a gift card. (If they weren't a loved one before, they are then!) For out of print stuff, my local used book stores just aren't that great, so I'll go through the amazon used booksellers. I've gotten a few books there (like "The Little Girl Who Lived Down the Lane") for $1 or less, with $3-4 S&H, that I could have spent $25 on because they're "rare". The last five books I read (besides Christmas gifts) 3 came from the library, 1 from B&N, and 1 from a charity shop in England. Thanks for the question! :)

I get a lot of books from the library. When I find one that I particularly enjoy, I buy it. I do sometimes wait for novels to go into paperback and sometimes pick up hardcovers at flea markets and used book stores. Two of the last five books I read came from a library and the other three from a bookstore, a national chain.

Mostly I hunt around second hand bookstores, there are a couple close by where i work. Its amazing the books you can find in these places, my partner does a lot of studying about various subjects in her spare time and the second hand stores are a minefull of reference material for her. I do use chainstores as well depending on what im looking for. The last 5 books i have read (well 9 if im honest) have all came from chainstores. Currently reading, Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman the funniest book of the appocolype i have ever read.

I mainly borrow new titles from the public library before deciding if I want to own them. If I do, I tend to buy from the library's used book sales or the book stores like Barnes and Noble or Borders. The last 5 I read came from the library and Borders.

I get most of my books from a used book store. The library isn't close enough to me to make it worhtwhile to go. The internet? Sometimes, if I can find a good deal, but I absolutely HATE to pay shipping on EACH book, as most places (amazon, B&N) choose to ship seperately. A used bookstore lets me buy hard covers for under 10 dollars! Thats a bargain! I do, occassionally, buy a book at a local chain store...only if I really can't wait for it to appear at the used store.

I borrow from the library quite heavily, but for the last 5 books, I would say between garage sales and retail.
I do not borrow many books, but do tend to loan one out at a time.
The last book that I read was "The National Sunday Law"
It is free for the asking, and very imformative. After reading it, one must make a conscious and deliberate decision.
BTW, it speaks of the Sabbath.

The last 5 books I read I borrowed from my cousins because they have all the latest best sellers (The Davinci Code, Tuesdays with Morrie and a few others) But I also buy books and borrow from the library.

Read reviews, then the library or Internet sources, then sometimes order them online. Also, what's a better environment than a used bookstore or a Borders or Barnes and Noble?

Most of the books I read I take out from the library. I would say that the last five books I've read were from the library. I did receive a number of books for Christmas which were all ordered off of Amazon.com.
