why is it that the rose bowl is a bigger and more awaited event then the bcs championship? shouldn't it be the other way around? pep put more enphasis on the rose bowl (commercials, sports shows) shouldn't the bcs championship be the biggest, since that is going to decide who the national champion is?

for the pacman guy.......dumb as he sounds, this year alone, 4 people have died while playing soccer, on the field do to cardiac arrest. the chelsea fc goalie had to go through brain surgery after colliding with another player. juan arango had to get nose and face surgery after someone elbowed him and broke his nose and front facia. and you said theres no contact...HA!

The Rose Bowl's been around since 1902. The BCS is a new, and hopefully short-lived, concept.

The Rose Bowl has a long history (being the oldest starting in 1902, hence original bowl game) and has become a tradition among many families for New Year's Day to watch the parade and watch the football game after the parade.
The BCS Championship is relatively new, 1998, and doesn't have the tradition that comes with the game.
Although the BCS tries to pick the best, the two teams are picked via a poll. No playoffs to a championship game. I'm sure many people disagree with the poll ranking system. If the BCS had an NFL style championship with playoffs or an NCAA basketball style tourney where the top teams duke it out, then I would think people would take the BCS championship more seriously and actually it would represent the true #1 team.
In regards to football being a sissy sport... That's very funny. Player's often play with injuries and often don't get treated until after the game. That's tough.
Soccer is definately a sissy sport. The players run around the field in short shorts. They don't even know how to do a proper head butt. For example, Zidane in the World Cup getting upset for a comment about his sister. What was with Materazzi on the receiving end, he fell over so easily. Was that a professional wrestling move? Boo hoo! :-(::: He said something about my sister. It's called trash talk. Soccer players are be too sensitive. They must be in-touch with their feminine side.

Why not the Rose Bowl champion versus the Sugar Bowl Champion and the winner plays the BCS champion? Sounds more fair to me.

The BSC championship game is a bigger game. It at least determines the mythical national champion. The Rose Bowl just has more tradition so it's probably easier to hype.

There's a lot of history tied into the Rose Bowl.
The championship tends to rotate from bowl to bowl. So....if it were this time last year....you wouldn't even be asking this question.

The Rose Bowl has more of a History than the BCS does it been around longer but you can bet that all sports channels will be talking about OSU and Florida this weekend
