hi from Greece.If you dont know August month in Greece is when all the greeks take their leave together with all the tourists that visit our beautiful country. so the sooner you book the better and it will cost you less. also 15th August is a big holiday here and you cant find anything open so dont think of flying in or out of Greece on that day. also if you want to see the sights of Athens its the best month as all the locals leave for the islands and their villages for the summer vactions so youll have Athens all nice and clean and quiet.

You didn't say where you were flying out from......I live in the south USA......going in August it costs me as much sometimes as 700 usd more for a plane ticket....agent or not.....Spring time the flights are cheaper up to about June 14th I think is cut off for those....This last summer I went last week in July for 3 weeks, from Memphis to Atlanta into Athens...$1200. usd, .in the spring I have flown for as low as $585...but like one above said Athens is not so busy in Aug everyone leaves town to the tourist and many small shops are closed.

Consult your travel agents, they should know when is the right time to obtain the best prices, but you can enter the sites of various airlines and ask what you want. You will be amazed by the outcome!

Start working with a travel agent right now. Don't forget to get a passport or make sure it's up-to-date. And, get travel insurance, too, just in case something comes up to interrupt your plans. Have a great trip. I wish I were going with you.
