no, I'm 22 now and have no clue... but i don't sweat it... its about the journey... sounds corny but if you focus too much on the outcome and the goal, you miss the process called life.

No. Use this time to explore options. Many students go to college not really knowing what they want to do. They take general education classes and other classes that they think might interest them. If you get to the end of general education classes and still don't know what you want to do, you can get a degree in something that you enjoy. Even if you don't end up using your particular degree, having a college degree opens up many more opportunities, and it's also much easier to go back and get another degree if you should find you need one.

If college isn't an option for you, consider trade school to learn a skill you can use later. A lot of students in my area go to beauty college in high school (it's less expensive in high school and they can get school credit) and get liscensed. You can also go to a computer school, a business and secretarial school, or a school to learn auto mechanics. You might also see if in your area there are classes offered through Parks and Recreation on things like real estate or starting a small business. Taking classes here and there can help you discover things that interest you.

If you just want to work at a good-paying, steady job, explore all of the government options, like working for the DMV or the Post Office (there are many more). Many of these require only a high school diploma and a test, but there is often a waiting list for these types of jobs.

Don't panic. You have lots of time to find something you want to do, and you may end up working many different types of jobs for the next few years. Those jobs can help you decide which things you like and do not like to do. The important thing is to work. Jobs open up other job opportunities and give you experience that you need to get other jobs. Find any job and be faithful to it for at least a year to help establish a good work history.

I'm 53 and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Very few people ever find their calling. Unless you are one of those rare and wonderous people, you will basically go where life leads you. Just remember that happiness doesn't exist except in moments here and there. The most you can hope for is contentment and, you know, that's not bad.

It's good that you're thinking about your future at such a young age. The best advice is to just have fun and try new things. Go talk to your local Young Adult librarian about volunteering in your community (many YA librarians keep information about such things on file), and you might be surprised at how much there is for you to do in the world. By exploring the opportunities that are out there, you might happen upon a fun and exciting career!

I think that while you're in high school, it's alright that you're not sure with what you want to do with your life. You can enter college with an "undeclared" major and from there, you can explore your interests. It is through college that people find out where their passion lies.
