I think you will find that, outside of Brunei, Americans pay the least for their motor fuel of any country in the world (as a percentage of average salary, that is.)
In the metric system used in Europe a US gallon is 3.8 litres +/-. We pay about Euro 1.20 on average for a LITRE. Making 1 US gallon 3.8 x 1.20 = 8.16 Euro. Or $10.62 a US gallon.
Note also please the average salary in Europe is about 75% of the equivalent US salary, and cars cost 1.5 times as much to buy, and we haven't even discussed insurance yet (I'm 46, never had an accident, been driving since I was 21, I drive a 1.2 litre engined 3 door family car, and my insurance is in excess of $1500 a year.).

Whats the problem. In Australia we are paying 1.08 a LITRE. I would love to pay 2 bucks a gallon. You guys have it too easy.
Sorry I got a thumbs down. Maybe I should explain there are about four litres in a gallon so we pay nearly four dollars a gallon.

Because Americans are that stupid. You can try to argue this point, but when your government lives off of your hard earned money and uses it for everything except for the people, then you must agree. As long as people take it, they will continue to dish it out. Thank you.

Becasue they know whe need it and cant do anything about until we develop other energy to pwer cars. Hell im paying $2.60 a gallon in California.
