Search for proxy sites. That's your best bet but if they are blocked then you are out of luck. There are other ways of doing it but those ways have two issues with them.

1. It is complicated and time consuming so a lot of people wont be able to do it at all.

2. It is basically hacking and you can get in a lot of trouble for it.

Website firewalls and blockings are there for a reason especially in schools. What you consider a "good site" obviously isn't by your school. Breaking down firewalls is an invasion of privacy and is also illegal.
If you are at school you should be using the computer for something constructive like school work instead of trying to hack in on another site which is blocked for a reason!!! Your lucky your not at the school where I work because the students aren't allowed to email or go to places like Yahoo Q&A and believe me the students are watched. You would be off the computer so fast that your head would spin and you would be lucky if you were allowed back on for at least a week. Depending on what you were doing you could be off computers for the rest of the year!

The reason the firewalls are there are so the kids at school will pay attention, not go to certain websites, and will study harder so they can get a job in computer security which helps them figure out how to break down firewalls.

:P
